Security Project Profiles - PWSB

As the primary provider of water to more than 60% of Rhode Island, PWSB provides 68 million gallons of water per day through 870 miles of water mains to 17 Rhode Island cities and towns.

The $2.8 Million PWSB project provided protection for all facilities located throughout the State of Rhode Island. To ensure the proper design, BCM thoroughly researched and engineered the appropriate system and selected Tour Andover Controls for the Access Control, Integrated ID Badging and Intrusion Alarm systems. Integral was selected for the Digital Recording system while Panasonic was chosen to provide more than 100 fixed and Pan-Tilt-Zoom (PTZ) Cameras. BCM also designed and installed new interior and exterior lighting in conjunction with low-light cameras to allow image capture regardless of natural light. Other security features included Intercoms, window grills, perimeter fence protection and Time & Attendance Recording functions.

Superior Project Management
BCM formed the appropriate team of 8 sub-contractors with complimentary experience who executed all phases of the project with success. Sub-contracts included electrical and low voltage wiring installation, HVAC systems, installation of doors, window grills, fuel pump management as well as site excavation. The project was completed on budget in 18 months per the project schedule.

One of the most unusual aspects of the project proved to be communication methods. BCM integrated different types of communication systems to ensure that all linked systems would work as planned. BCM’s design elements incorporated custom coding of the system to buffer all non-essential events (as determined by the facility), immediately set off alarms, and provide daily communication with the central system to download events and receive updates.

In order to minimize manual entry of the existing personnel and cardholder information, BCM selected and successfully implemented Tour Andover Controls’ Personnel Data Importer software package.

Long Term Relationship
As testament to the success of the design and installation phases, Providence Water Supply Board awarded BCM a full 5-year extended warranty and routine maintenance contract for the system as well as awarding BCM contracts for additional buildings and services.

BCM is proud to have contributed to the security of Greater Providence’s Water Supply. Many thanks to PWSB for a successful working relationship.
