SPD selected BCM Controls Corporation to install a Case Information Media Management System that included Specialized Software and two dedicated Single Channel Real Time Recorders to record Video and Audio in their Interview Room and Booking Rooms. The system also included 3 hand held audio recorders to be utilized by officers to record information “on the fly.”

Interview Room
BCM kept installation costs to a minimum by interfacing SPD’s existing camera, on/off switch and recording indicator light in the Interview room with the new system. The Interview Room recorder will only record when the switch and light are on.

Booking Room
BCM installed a new Sanyo Camera and 360-degree motion detector in the Booking Room that will only record when motion is actually detected, eliminating the need to manually “throw a switch” during an arrested person’s entry into the room. The Booking Room camera is also equipped with an optically corrected lens that never requires re-focusing.

Case Management
The 2 Digital Video Recorders (DVR’s) and Hand Held Audio Recorders are interfaced over the SPD’s internal Ethernet backbone to a computer that is equipped with Sanyo’s CIMM Case Management Software. This software enables easy, reliable storage and retrieval of video and audio. It also accepts Audio, Video, or Still images from a variety of sources so that all information related to a case is stored together. Numerous searchable fields allow for easy retrieval of data. Information can be viewed either through the software (which saves the information under case files) or from the recorders themselves. The monitor is also equipped with Audio.

BCM ensured that the recording system was easy to use and virtually fool proof to operate. Recording does not require the software to be running or even be present - it is only used for after the fact retrieval/storage. If a session is required late at night, the officer does not have to have any special skills or training.

BCM is proud to have helped the Sudbury Police Department establish state of the art recording, storage and retrieval capabilities.

“I am extremely satisfied with the professionalism and service provided by BCM during the installation of the Case Information Media Management System. The quality of the video and the clarity of the audio are excellent and are a vast improvement over the system that we had been using.”
